Born and raised in Detroit, I'm the youngest of two siblings. My mother, a nutritionist, and my father, a teacher, instilled in me a love of gardening, healthy eating, and community service. I attended the University of Michigan and studied Communications before starting my career in non-profit fundraising and community gardening. My passion for supporting neighborhood food access led me to become Director of Major Gifts at the food bank where I volunteered. Seeing the increased need during the pandemic inspired me to run for Congress to ensure families have access to the nourishment they need.
